*Update after 2.5 months.*Main points are in the review title if you don’t want to read.I accidentally posted an updated review for a different eyeliner! So, I’m here to correct my mistake. It’s only been a few days, so hopefully not too many people read what I wrote. Even if they did, my opinion on both eyeliners are very similar (which is how I mixed them up in the first place).I wanted to provide an update because a lot of cosmetic reviews seem to be based on a short trial period, where the makeup hasn’t been tested in various real life conditions or tried with other cosmetics for compatability. Also, I’m always on the hunt for the most waterproof, longest lasting, easy to use BROWN LIQUID EYELINER PEN. (It seems like black liquid liner usually has better staying power, but brown liquid colors are hit or miss.) I appreciate when people write honest and THOROUGH reviews because I rely on them to help me find the best liner within my budget.WARNING: Some things I write may sound ridiculous (such as examples of what an eyeliner can/can’t withstand). I go thru a lot of unusual experiences, extreme conditions, and harsh environments due to my profession. I work in a generally rugged field; and my work conditions and environments can (and often do) fluctuate a lot in just a day. I rarely have much time to apply makeup at the start of my workdays, and I rarely have time to touch it up while I’m on duty. My profession has influenced my personal lifestyle. I often go about my personal time unphased by things that people would normally consider troublesome, harsh, etc. For example, I usually don’t bother with an umbrella or other appropriate covering while walking thru rain (unless it’s absolutely important I stay dry). I don’t even bother to shield my face unless I can’t see. I’m not afraid to get messy when doing housework or while having fun. I work hard and play hard. I’m very low maintenance most of the times. Despite all this, I still care about looking as pretty/nice as possible (or at least neat). I experiment with various makeup looks whenever I can. I’m very serious when it comes to selecting cosmetics. I want them to withstand normal and extreme conditions. I want them to be easy and convenient to apply… and to carry with me if possible. I’ve found many liners that get the job done, but I’m always on the hunt for alternatives or something better. Because I never know when my favorite product will be discontinued or if it’ll even be available at my next duty location. But hey… at least you know I’ve tested this product to some extremes.Let me make it clear that I’ve determined no LIQUID EYELINER is truly “waterproof.” In my experience, gel type liners fall into the real waterproof category. I consider liquid liners to fall under the water-resistant category. But I still use the term “waterproof” when a liquid liner shows a very strong level of resistance. For me to consider a liquid liner to be “waterproof,” it must remain in tact (i.e., no running, fading, or flaking off unless it’s a spot that’s less than 1.5 mm in diameter that can quickly be fixed) more than 90% of the times in these kinds of situations:• Walking thru heavy rain for 15 secs (like standing under a shower head with room temp water running down you);• Walking thru med-light rain for 2-3 min;• Walking thru a very light drizzle for 15 min;• Performing low-med activity in high humidity for 8 hrs straight;• Having several flakes of snow get caught on your eyelashes and melt on your eyes later;• Crying or eyes tearing badly for whatever reason for 2 min straight;• Having a cup of water thrown in your face;• Getting completely splashed & soaked by a vehicle driving thru a puddle;• Having sweat run over your eyes intermittently for several hrs;• Showering in a steamy room and trying to keep your face out the water, but occasionally failing. All of this is also considering that you’ve only lined your upper lid, no large amount force is directing water at the liner (like someone spraying you in the eyes with a super-soaker water gun or you’re walking faced up thru torrential down-pour for some odd reason), you don’t have a significant amount of oily product (like greasy sunblock or other oily makeup) mixing into your liner because of the water, and nothing is touching/causing friction with your liner while it’s wet. The liner must also be able to dry after any of these experiences and still hold strong… meaning, it can handle at least one more round of any of the experiences before it starts to show very minimal signs of wear.I would say this eyeliner is waterproof, and it has made on my personal list of reliable cosmetics.Note: I had mixed results with it at first. But I found that it lasts longer if I ensure I make a consistently thick enough line. In this case, I mean “thick” as in enough product is on my skin (not the width of the line). I can draw a thinner line, but I still have to make sure enough liner is there. If I apply it too lightly or unevenly, it doesn’t have much staying power after contact with water. If I put way too much on, it’ll be prone to flaking off when touched or in contact with water. (It’s hard to overdo it unless you keep going over your line repeatedly until it has kind of a chunky or flaky consistency when dried.)This liner actually passed all of my tests… except the car splash because I don’t actively try to get splashed by vehicles.Example of waterproof and staying power: I once used it to make two thick (as in bold) winged lines on my upperlid. Then I had some tearing issues for about a min because I put in some ill-fitting contact lenses before swapping them out with ones that fit better. Within 2 hrs, I briefly cried for maybe 20-30 secs. I dabbed my tears below my eyes without looking in a mirror. My lashes were wet, so I tried not to mess with my eyes and just hoped I didn’t look crazy. Thankfully, I checked myself out about 30 min later and all of my makeup seemed completely unphased. About 30 min after that, I spent about 20 seconds in medium rain to get to my car. Then I walked thru the rain again for at least a full minute. I very carefully dabbed my liner dry with tissue when I got into the building I was headed to. Nothing came off. I handled my business indoors for 4 or so hrs, then walked thru another full minute of light rainfall back to my car. I stopped by 3 stores on my way home, walking thru various amounts of light to heavy rain for about 15-25 sec intervals. I even stood outside in a light drizzle for a couple minutes. It was still raining when I arrived home, and I had to make several trips to and from my car to carry things in. My hair was tied back at this point so a lot more rain was able to hit my face. My liner was still looking good. THEN I accidentally fell asleep with my make up on. When I woke up the next morning, I went outside to grab a my mail. My neighbor asked what I had planned for the day that I was “all made up for” (referring to my make up because I was still wearing pajama pants and my hair was tied back). Surprisingly, my bold winged eyeliner was mostly in tact. (Tiny parts around the outer and inner corner of my eyes had faded, and the tip of one wing was looking “cracked” and unsmooth. But I don’t think my neighbor noticed this from 15 ft away.) This is gross, but I ended up just touching up the liner to see how much longer it would last. It stayed put until the late afternoon, which is when I decided I really wanted to shower. It lasted thru two quick trips to some stores, some yard work, and housework on the second day. I noticed it came off easier than normal in the shower, probably because I wore it so long and my lids were oily at that point. Plus, it had already taken a beating as far as contact with water.I mainly used this liner on top of various waterproof cream-to-powder eyeshadows. I also used it over powdered eye shadow. Sometimes I smudged different face primers over my eye area, sometimes I didn’t. This liner seems to last longer when used over the waterproof cream-to-powder eyeshadows, whether or not I used any primer under them. You do have to occasionally wipe the brush tip down with a damp papertowel or something or it’ll get clogged easily. The cleaner you keep the brush, the smoother the ink flows, and the better it adheres.*Original review below.*I tried this liquid brush tip eyeliner because I was tired of my Nyx Pro liquid liner leaking all the time.Waterproof: Similar to Nyx. I’ve cried, gotten splashed in the face, and walked thru pouring rain while wearing this eyeliner. As long as I didn’t rub my eyes while the eyeliner was wet, it stayed put. I dried my face by dabbing with a paper towel or washcloth. I’ve even fallen asleep while wearing this eyeline, and it barely budged. The ends (near the outer corners of my eyes) were a bit faded… probably because I have watery eyes, sometimes tear up when laying on my side, and I rub my face around my pillow a lot.Removability: It washes off pretty easily with face wash, water, and a cloth. I do have to wash my eye area twice and use a cloth of some sort to make sure all of the eyeliner is removed from between my lashes. It comes off easily with various makeup removers, including Ponds cold cream.Ease of application: I like brush tip liners better than felt. The brush tip on this pen is soft, but sturdy enough that you have good control during application. It allows you to draw a very thin line. (My preferred waterproof brush tip eyeliners by Nyx and Clio Kill don’t let me draw lines as thin as this one does.) The pen hasn’t clogged up or leaked after at least 6 uses in the span of 2 wks. I clean the tip with a wet cloth/paper towel/gauze after each use (unless just touching up). I’ve had no issues with the liner flaking off, even after layering it on to create a thicker line. The pigment has been rich and consistent.Overall thoughts: I like this eyeliner and would buy it again. However, I prefer a more solid line when applying eyeliner because it just makes the application process quicker and mistakes are less noticeable. This eyeliner can do the same job, but it just takes longer since it’s meant to create thinner lines. It’s great for touching up eyeliner that was applied in a thick or bold manner, since it has such a fine tip. (Sometimes if you go over the same spot, eyeliner pens will actually remove already applied eyeliner. I found this doesn’t do that.) I would recommend this to anyone looking for a waterproof liquid brush-tip eyeliner, who prefers a thinner application or who doesn’t mind taking their time to do their makeup. This thing offers max precision!

I’ve tried them all. To expensive highly rated ones-to the drugstore quality ones. This is one of the best in Pen form because the tip is actually a brush with bristles instead of a sponge. It equally applies smoothly to my eye and it sharpens my wings with just a swipe. Only issue I’ve had with this is the logo paint is coming off in my makeup bag on its own and ends up on my hands, and that it dries out if you leave it for a while. Other than that, I just wanna thank Maybelline for understanding the assignment.

I’ve tried many felt tip liquid eyeliners in the search for: long lasting, strong opaque color, easy to apply, and most of all inexpensive. This one checks all the boxes for me, and I’ve been using it for about 8 months now.Compared to a much pricier option, this eyeliner is nearly the same. The expensive one I feel stays on longer, but the Maybelline liner lasts all day. Maybelline is just as opaque and equally easy to apply.Other felt pens in this price range have a much lighter color – I have to do more than one layer to get the look I want, and they don’t last as long. Most days I don’t put anything on my lids except this liquid liner and a pencil liner. Sometimes I’ll use a primer or bb cream, but that doesn’t seem to have any effect on the liner.I have not tested the waterproofness, I use micellar water to remove my makeup.Definitely try this liner for an inexpensive everyday product.

This product is great. It applies supper easily and it’s easy to remove with makeup remover. As a waterproof it does the trick of not running when your eyes get wet but water removes it easily so please keep that in mind. Good application but not long lasting (the reason why it removes easily).

Will buy again, I like the angle of the tip and the smaller brow brush. Make sure you dial it back down after use so you do not break the pencil end when you reopen it. Not sure of staying power yet as I have not been using it long.

When I received this eyeliner, the packaging from Maybelline was open, like someone had taken it out and returned it. I did not bother to return it, I just threw it away. Not taking any chances.

There is nothing I dislike about this product! I was having such an issue with finding make up that did run as I am a housekeeper, so I am always running everywhere! This product stayed on for 10+ hours! I will be buying it again and I would recommend it to anyone who wears eye liner!
