I’m 56 years old with 100% silver hair on the top and sides, along with some gray in the back. I started using Arctic Fox instead of permanent dye about 15 months ago, and it actually covers my gray, too. I usually leave it on for 3-4 hours, but I’m going to experiment to see if I can get good coverage in less time. My thought has always been that if I’m going to spend the time and product to cover my roots, I want it to look great and last. I only wash my hair once a week and so because of that, I guess the color lasts on me longer than it might others. It really lasts well on the parts that aren’t root grow in – like on those parts, I only recolor my whole head maybe once every 3-4 months and it never fades to be gray or anything like that – it just fades to what it would look like if I only used Ritual not mixed with anything else – if you’re not familiar with that Arctic Fox color – it’s like a brownish burgundy. As for the roots, I do have to color every few weeks but can go a month if I use colored hair powders like Splat Hair Chalk. If you have gray, you know the hairline though can look bad pretty quickly and so I do have to color that part more often or use colored hair mascara if I don’t want to recolor ever week. It’s fun how many compliments I receive from young women in stores. They often tell me they love my hair color, ask if I’m a hairdresser, or want to know how I got my color to look like this! A few have even said, “I’m going to tell my friend how you did that!”With gray hair, I find it’s important to add some brown to create a richer look. I mix in any of the temporary browns available since I don’t think Arctic Fox has a brown that I know of. If you just apply fashion colors over gray without a brown base, I don’t think it looks as rich or flattering.I mix brown with Arctic Fox Ritual, Violet Dream, Purple AF, and Ritual to achieve a beautiful burgundy-ish plum. I’ve also received compliments for a bright red mix that doesn’t need brown: 2 parts Sunset Orange, and 1 part each of Wrath, Poison, and Ritual. This combination creates a stunning red, similar to Pulp Riot Pyro, but at half the cost.If you don’t have gray hair yet and have dark hair, I recommend lightening it to at least a copper shade; otherwise, you might not get the vibrant results you’re looking for.

I’ve tried a lot of pink dyes, and Arctic Fox Virgin Pink is hands down my favorite! It’s a beautiful cool-toned pink that isn’t too light or too orangey, which is exactly what I was looking for. I wash my hair every other day, and the longevity of the color depends on the shampoo I use, but it’s not a big deal since I refresh my color every 3-4 weeks anyway. The scent is amazing, and even leaving it on for just an hour gives me vibrant, rich color. The only downside is that my scalp gets a bit itchy if I don’t shampoo after dyeing, likely because it doesn’t like any residue left behind. Overall, if you’re looking for a stunning pink dye with great color payoff, this is the one to get!

A few months ago I bleached and dyed my hair purple at a hair salon, so this was my first time doing it myself. The purple has since faded to a swampy greenish blue.Anyways, fast forward to now that I bought this blue, I was nervous to dye it over my already colored hair because I didn’t know how it would look, but its great! The color took immediately to my hair, I waited 2 hours before washing it out and the color is so vibrant and pretty!! I do still see some purple in spots that weren’t yet washed out, but I think it looks great!(Above is the before and after!)

It took a few applications to get the color to stay. Got the green for my son and his Halloween costume. I followed the directions to the T, several times and when it was almost said and done it stuck. His hair is a dirty blond. When it finally stuck it did take some time for it to come off. My son likes it so it’s a win. 👌👍

This was my first time using this brand. It does stain the skin some but compared to regular box dye (from dollar general) it’s not bad. Other reviews are correct with the smell being present with no chemical smell or harsh overwhelming smells. I used 2 full 4oz bottles on my hair. I attached pictures of my before and after for reference. I seen a lot of people on Reddit talking about leaving the dye on longer and possibly over night, I ended up getting a headache and washed it off at the normal 30 minute mark and I think the results are still great. The white tub did not dye thankfully, it wiped out no problems and no scrubbing. I used cool water to rinse my hair out and I was expecting much more dye to come out. I’m writing this the day after dyeing it so I’m not sure yet about how long it will hold up or how much washes out when it is time to wash it. So far this has been a really good experience with this brand. I can’t wait to try other colors. I hope this helps someone, I tried to incorporate what I wanted to know when looking at reviews for this brand/color.

I used this dye to color my hair with semi-permanent dye for the first time ever, and I was blown away by how awesome it came out. I have dark brown hair with grays around my face…the color showed up as brilliant highlights over my grays. I have never gotten so many compliments in my life! I recommend getting a kit with a color application brush and some clips to keep hair out of your face as you go.Some tips for first-timers:The dye will wash out a little with each shampoo, so be prepared for a little clean up.The dye washed right out of my towels even after sitting in the laundry for a week. The dye came right out of my shower grout with a little Tilex with bleach, no problem.I have thick, mid-back length hair and the small bottle was enough to cover it all.I only left it for 30 minutes under a shower cap, and blow-dried over the cap for 15 of those 20 minutes.Seriously, just try it.

NOT THE PURPLE I WANTED…
FIRST OFF, I wanted it deep rich bright purple. As you can see. It definitely failed in that departmentHowever. I’ve used many many other brands. Permanent colors. Reds. Purples. Etc. They never stay. At. All. Did not even matter if I bleached my hair. This round. I went from about 4-5 months after my last BLEACH AND COLOR with a permanent color purple that didn’t washed out the day of.Bleached it some more. And then coloured it with arctic fox.I left the bleach on 1 hour. It’s the PLATINUM BLONDE KITSI left the Arctic purple on for 1 hr as well. I had WANTED the color I saw on my skin during coloring. If the hair had turned out that color I would of been really happy.But. As you can see the only spot I can be happy with. Is my roots. Cuz that’s the area that has the purple deepest (not talking about my scalp)It’s not a bad color. But. For the time I took to do this. I really had expected more deeper brighter looking purple.I missed a few spots. Not really missed. But just didn’t rub I think. Cuz the way I apply color without a brush and without making mess and splatter. It’s hard to see the spots as I color in bundles. Ill probably re color some of the missed spots on the weekend and it wouldn’t be nearly as inconvenient when it’s not in your whole head.Yes. I’d do it again. But I’d probably go redish pink. Purple just makes my hair too dark and probably because short of bleaching my naturally black hair white, it’s probably always going to give me darker shades of everything I see and desire. But I’m not willing to go white 🙈 cuz my hair doesn’t keep color very well. Even salon stuff is gone in 3 washes. So then I’d be left with white hair. Literally. Sad. But true.I would say:My length hair. Don’t be cheap just dump the whole bottle into the container. You’ll use it all. There was like maybe 1-2 tablespoons left in the container. 😏so if you’re hair is any longer. Get 2 bottlesClean up:It did not make ANY mess. I was holding my breath on the mess it would make splashing. But. When I ran my hair with water. The water flowed PALE PALE MURKY dirty paint brush water. It wasn’t the deep purple you’d get when you wash regular permanent colors out in the tub. As a result. Short of like a home viewing where some people MIGHT notice a faint tinge of purple at just the right angle and lighting. You couldn’t tell. Took a 3M sponge and just wiped it once over on the tub. Done. No mess to clean up. The shower curtains are clear white. They stayed. Clear white. The tiles grouts all good too. The towels was pale pale faint color. Only spots that rubs purple is the skin where it didn’t wash off in the shower. But it rubs off on the towel. The remaining bit of color around my face along the hairline. I just took glycolic toner (ordinary) and just did a peel treatment while I was at it and it removed all the color off my face just fine.Anyways. Hope this helps. I bought this in summer JUNE. Bleached my hair half way down from black. And then. Due to the perceived mess this would cause in my showers. I chickened out and never did it. No regrets. Have fun. This stuff cleans up well (in the showers) I would cover your sinks with a splayed open garbage bag. Same with floor. Just in case. Shower I would spray it all wet the tiles and tub. Before getting in to rinse hair. I wouldn’t do this in the sink as suggested by the manufacturer. No need to avoid your shower or tub.
